Privacy Policy

At Quick Tools, your data is yours. This policy explains how the app is built so that stays true, not just promised.

1. The structural privacy guarantee

Quick Tools is entirely client-side: every tool runs in your browser, and there is no backend server receiving, processing, or storing your files or the text you type. With no server handling your data, we can't collect, store, or share what you process here, even if we wanted to.

2. What data we do not collect

Because of our client-side architecture, we do not collect any of the following:

  • Personal information. We don't ask for your name, email address, IP address, or anything else that identifies you.
  • Usage data or analytics. No tracking scripts, no click tracking, no session recording. There is no analytics service running here, Google Analytics or otherwise.
  • User content. Text, images, and files you process with the tools never leave your device.

3. Local storage usage

The app doesn't send data to a server, but your browser may save small amounts of non-personal data locally on your device. We don't use cookies for this; instead we use your browser's localStorage API, for:

  • Theme. Whether you prefer light or dark mode.
  • Tool settings. Preferences for individual tools, so they're ready the next time you open them.

This data stays on your device. Clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data or cache.

4. Network requests

For the vast majority of our tools, zero network requests are made after the initial page load. The exceptions are:

  • YouTube Thumbnail Downloader, which fetches thumbnail images from YouTube's image CDN (i.ytimg.com) and the video title from YouTube's oEmbed endpoint (www.youtube.com/oembed) to function.
  • Currency Converter, which fetches exchange rates from Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev), a free service republishing European Central Bank reference rates. Only the currency codes you select are sent as query parameters. The amount you enter is never transmitted; the conversion happens in your browser.

When you use either of these tools, your browser makes requests directly to that service's servers, subject to its own privacy policy. No other tool on Quick Tools makes any external network requests.

Quick Tools also uses a service worker to cache the site's own files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, icons) locally in your browser, so tools keep working offline and the site can be installed to your home screen. This cache holds only the app itself, never anything you type or upload, and it stays entirely on your device. You can clear it at any time via your browser's site data settings.

One tool can make a request only if you explicitly ask it to: Markdown to PDF leaves remote images out of the conversion by default, and the "Load remote images" option must be turned on before your browser will fetch any image URL your document references. Those requests go directly from your browser to whichever host the image lives on. Your markdown itself is never sent anywhere.

5. Third-party services

We do not integrate with third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics services. All assets the site needs, including Google Fonts, are self-hosted, so your browser never leaks your IP address to a third-party font provider or CDN just from browsing the site.

6. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Quick Tools isn't directed at anyone under 13. Since we don't collect personal data from anyone, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by default, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your GDPR rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), users in the European Economic Area have rights over their personal data, including the right to access, correct, or erase it. Because Quick Tools does not collect or store any personal data, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete.

8. Your CCPA rights

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have rights over the collection and sale of their personal information. We do not collect, sell, or share any personal information of any user, including California residents, so those rights are already met.

9. Data security

The most secure data is data that is never collected. Since your data never leaves your browser, its security depends on the security of your own device and browser. Keep both updated so your data stays protected locally.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our tools or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
